Embodied good deaths and disembodied bad deaths: Undergraduate nursing students narratives of experience

The concept of “good and bad deaths” has been widely addressed in the literature. However, little is known undergraduate nursing students' experiences with death clinical practice or how they perceive good deaths. To explore personal professional/clinical dying. A qualitative narrative inquiry design. Eighteen third year Bachelor Nursing students participated study. Data was collected through individual participant interviews analysed using Clandinin Connelly's three dimensions (temporality, sociality place). key finding study revealed that are shaped by role others, especially experienced nurses practice. Embodied were influenced presence who guided experience. Disembodied undignified care, ritualistic post-mortem care physical coldness deceased environment. need meaningful preparation to undertake end life practice, including possibility End education simulation play a preparing for needs be commenced early degree. Furthermore, clinicians aware impact have shaping students, Registered Nurses future.
